SAN MATEO, Calif. --
A commuter train struck and killed a person this afternoon in San Mateo, according to Caltrain officials.The incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. on the Caltrain tracks near Bellevue Avenue, Caltrain officials said.
The southbound train #152 struck a person who was trespassing on the rail corridor. The train had about 700 passengers onboard at the time, according to Caltrain.
Trains have been cleared to single-track through the site at restricted speeds. Southbound train #254 will be the first to pass through the area.
Delays are expected.
